SKY NEWS

Specifically Sky News wanted to understand from Cova the surge in demand for full depth road blockers and shallow depth road blockers for permanent protection to property and people, and also to understand what ‘temporary solutions’ are currently being used to protect crowded places, specifically high profile stadium events.

The rise in enquiries for Stadium protection from vehicle attack has increased significantly in the last year following our advertising campaign with FCbusiness magazine, the football industry business magazine for the UK & Republic of Ireland. You can read more on this article on our NEWS page.

When talking to our colleagues and competitors across the industry we’ll all agree that there has been a rise in demand for HVM counter terror products, both in the UK and Internationally. There are now a large number of international successful fire, safety and security exhibitions such as Intersec Dubai, which have raised the profile as to what breath of static and automated, temporary and permanent products are available to prevent vehicle attacks.

On Sunday 25th February throughout the day on loop, Sky News ran a feature in on their Sky TV News Channel which they announced that the ‘Premier League considers introducing anti-terror barriers at their grounds’. The main focus of the news article was on temporary deployable products, specifically focusing on the ATG Access lightweight and easy to transport ‘Surface Guard System’, however Cova were still featured nevertheless because of our contribution to the news story.

The full 3 minute, 12 seconds feature can be seen here. Cova are 2 minutes 4 seconds in.
During this Sky News feature an extract of our crash tested PAS 68 Full Depth Road Blocker – CSG 10506 was broadcast – in which it demonstrates a 7.5 tonne loaded lorry impacting our blocker at 50mph.
