Cova prosper in the face of the global pandemic

Following a strong end to 2019, Cova Security Gates were extremely optimistic about how successful this calendar year was going to be, as we were entering our 34th year trading as one of the leading perimeter security specialists in the UK and globally.
When Covid-19 hit the UK in February, like every other business Cova were concerned about protecting our staff.
Whilst we watched the pandemic unfold, there was particular concern regarding the safe continuation of our operations and how we were to ensure that additional measures relating to our production facility were in place.
In addition, our team were keen to identify any potential issues that could impact our ability to source items procured from our supply chain, and counteracted this by placing orders in advance for the projects that we had forecasted for the coming months.
This provided a sense of security for our clients in that we would be able to provide the quality product they had ordered regardless of the pandemic.
As lockdown came into effect in March and with most of our team working remotely, we saw a welcome influx of enquires and orders.
What seemed an almost global standstill with employees either working from home or furloughed, crowded places embargoed and large corporate buildings left empty, the risk of a vehicle borne attack was still present.
Perimeter security became a high priority for a range of clients looking to protect their assets in what had quickly become a most unpredictable market landscape. The race was on for Cova to design, manufacture and install our high-quality products at the earliest opportunity.
During this time, we are proud to have recruited a number of positions around the business to ensure we are able to step up to the demand of forthcoming projects secured in the coming months.
This included our recent promotion of Jonathan Cowan to Senior Electrical Design Engineer following a successful career with Cova since 2012. You can read more about his exciting career with us here.
It was also recognised that after almost 3 years with Cova Security Gates and securing some of the largest projects to date; Nathan Jones was welcomed onto the Board of Directors as Sales Director.
Nathan said “Since joining Cova, and as a result of previous involvement within their supply chain, I was in no doubt as to the quality and innovation offered by the company’s portfolio. I could see that whilst the products offered were geared towards a ‘one stop shop’ with the many solutions that are offered, our skill, experience and expertise has leant towards our core product, being gates.
Further consultation with the market confirmed that this was the case, so increased efforts were made to raise the profile of our innovative gate products that offer many advantages to the competition operating within this arena.
The market is so heavily populated with HVM equipment such as road blockers, barriers and bollards, but it’s our gates that set us apart – and it’s this ingenuity that get both clients and specifiers on the hook, leading to the advantage of the ‘one stop shop’ that we’ve endeavoured to become in the past.
Especially when integration of multiple products at the same site is required.”
With this new Directorship in place, the natural flow of internal promotion was to see Nathan Clark, taking on the role of Sales Engineer.
Having only been with Cova for 18 months, this is recognition of the hard work, dedication and learning he has undertaken in such a short time.

We've recently appointed a Sales Assistant/Administrator and in January 2021 are looking to recruit another Sales/Service Administrator to join our high flying Commercial Team.
