CSG Case Study 1: British Consulate General, Istanbul, Turkey

Cova Security Gates Case Study: British Consulate General, Istanbul, Turkey

In 2003, the vehicle borne explosive attack on the British Consulate General, Istanbul, Turkey was thwarted by a Cova Security Gates existing road blocker (which had not been crash tested).  It prevented the detonation of the explosives at the intended target, the main Consulate building.

As a result of the attack, Cova Security Gates Ltd were commissioned by the British Government to completely review the Consulate's perimeter security requirement as part of the refurbishment project. In order to counter any future attacks on the British Consulate building, Cova designed manufactured and installed the following equipment.

Cova fully designed and manufactured all the equipment in our UK factory, shipped to Turkey, installed and commissioned with our own installation team.

Due to the terrorist attack experienced, the whole perimeter security system had to be fully interfaced, and a highly complex control system was fully designed in house and implemented on site, including a vehicle loop tracking system comprising of 20 vehicle loops, which track vehicular approach between automated equipment and flags up vehicle position on the remote push button console.

Cova Security Gates Ltd, having saved the British Consulate Building from a vehicle-borne explosive attack, delivered one of our most impregnable, complex installations yet to this
refurbished Foreign & Commonwealth Office
post, ensuring a similar incident will never happen again.
