What Is PAS 68: 2010?

PAS 68: 2010 is a Publicly Available Specification (British Standard) which has been prepared to address the needs of organisations who wish to have assurance that vehicle security barriers will provide the level of impact resistance they seek.PAS 68: 2010

Many systems are available that are considered suitable for use as vehicle security barriers.  As their characteristics differ in both function and form, a comparative means of assessing performance is required.

PAS 68: 2010 specifies a classification system for the performance of vehicle security barriers, subjected to a single horizontal impact.

PAS 68: 2010 identifies impact test tolerances and vehicle performance criteria which need to be met in order for a product to conform and be granted a classification.

Design guidance is provided in PAS 69: 2006.

Example:

The CSG 10410 Crash Tested Sliding Cantilevered Gate gained a classification of:

Sliding Gate V/7500(N2)/64/90:2/0

This indicates that a 7.5 tonne vehicle, driven at 64kph (40mph) into the gate, at a 90o angle, was stopped with 2m penetration and zero dispersal of significant debris.

This formula can be used to interpret all of the PAS ratings stated for our Counter Terrorism range of products.
